Facelift

Our Difference

We perform facelifts in a safer, easier, and more effective way. Dr. Boonipat’s facelift technique is modern and innovative, delivering long-lasting, natural results while avoiding the downsides of traditional facelifts.

Downsides of a Traditional Facelift:

  • Swelling and bruising post-op that lasts for weeks
  • Drains and dressings for days
  • Pain control with narcotics and associated side effects

Our Different Approach:

  • Minimizing bruising and swelling with our dissection technique and local anesthesia
  • Drains are removed after one day
  • Scheduled Tylenol for minimal pain control

Our Technique:

We perform our facelifts using the deep SMAS technique and a sling and corset neck lift approach to improve neckline contour. This reverses the signs of aging in the lower neck and face. Expect the elimination of jowls, better definition of your jawline and neck, and treatment of neck bands. We emphasize a natural result that is not ‘pulled’ or fake and have long-lasting results.

We frequently suggest combining facelifts with other procedures such as fat grafting to address facial volume loss, eyelid surgery, and possible chin surgery.

FAQ: Facelift

What are the risks of facelift surgery?

Surgical procedures, including facelifts, entail risks. Major complications with facelifts are rare. A common complication is a hematoma, which is blood collecting under the skin. Small hematomas may resolve on their own, while large ones require urgent treatment. Injury to facial nerves or sensation is rare and typically temporary. The most commonly affected facial nerve (less than 5% risk) is the nerve going to your lower lip, which can cause temporary asymmetry in your lips with smiling or talking. This temporary asymmetry can be treated with Botox.

What to expect after a facelift?

Depending on your recovery, you can stay in the hospital or nearby overnight. Discomfort post-surgery is manageable with Tylenol.

  • Most patients return to Zoom meetings in 3-4 days and in-person work after 1-2 weeks as bruising typically resolves by then.
  • No strenuous exercise for 1 month; limit heavy lifting or bending down; walking is encouraged.
  • Swelling usually diminishes in 1-2 months, revealing true results.
  • Scars may take up to a year or longer to fully fade, but they are well-hidden and not very obvious during casual conversation.

Costs?

Costs will vary depending on your needs after our consultation.

What is a Facelift?

  • A facelift doesn’t address the upper part of the face, like the forehead (you need a brow lift and other procedures for that).
  • It’s mainly for the lower part, like the jawline and neck.
  • The goal is to make the skin tighter and younger-looking around the mouth, nose, and chin.
  • There are different kinds of facelifts, like SMAS and mini facelifts.
  • Dr. Boonipat offers different types depending on how much sagging you have and can suggest the best one for you to look younger and natural.

How is a Facelift Performed?

A facelift is a surgery to make your face look younger. The surgeon makes small cuts near your hairline and ears to hide the scars. The size and location of the cuts depend on the patient and the type of facelift. A “mini facelift” has smaller cuts, but other types need longer cuts. During the surgery, the doctor moves the tissue in your jaw and neck to make it look younger. They might take out or move fat to reshape your face, repositioning tissue in the jowls, jawline, and upper neck to a more youthful position. After that, they remove extra skin and close the cuts near your hairline.

Am I a good candidate for a facelift?

Both men and women who want to look younger may consider a facelift. It’s best if they are healthy and don’t smoke. Some start with smaller facelifts in their late 30s or 40s, while others wait until their 50s or later to look much younger. It’s important to know that a facelift won’t stop aging. People might have more than one facelift as they get older to stay youthful.
