Liposuction In San Antonio TX
One of the most popular cosmetic procedures, liposuction is ideal for people with areas of stubborn fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. Liposuction results in the permanent removal of fatty tissue. The most common areas treated by liposuction are the abdomen, hips, thighs, love handles, back, knees, upper arms, and chin.
It is common to perform liposuction of the abdomen, hips, and thighs together. This treats the body as one aesthetic unit, giving the best overall results. Depending on your anatomy, it is possible that only parts of the body require treatment. If these areas are small, it may be possible to do arms, knees, or under the chin at the same time. If the contours are large, it may not be possible to do more than just one area. The surgery is personalized for your goals and anatomy.

Am I A Good Candidate For A Liposuction?
Liposuction is a procedure that can remove stubborn fat from certain areas of your body. It’s important to know that this is not a shortcut to weight loss and is best suited for healthy individuals who have already achieved a stable weight.
Initial Consultation
At the initial consultation, your health history will be reviewed and the liposuction procedure will be explained in great detail, and any alternative procedures, as well as the risks and benefits of surgery, will be discussed.
Here you will also check before and after photographs of Dr. Lawton’s patients, and all of your questions will be answered.
During the consultation, your body contours including, skin excess, fat deposits, and muscular tone, will be evaluated. Here is where you will have the opportunity to point out the particular characteristics of your anatomy that you would like to improve or change.
After extensive discussion, you and Dr. Lawton will agree on which surgical plan will best achieve your goals. Our goal and commitment is that you leave this initial visit with a clear understanding of your surgical options, so that you can make an informed decision.

What Happens During The Liposuction Procedure?
Liposuction is performed in our private AAAASF Certified Class-C Outpatient Surgical Center. The procedure takes about 1 hour per area to be treated.
Dr. Lawton uses the tumescent technique, which involves using a special fluid during the procedure. This fluid contains epinephrine, which helps to decrease the risk of bleeding and bruising, and lidocaine, which reduces the amount of anesthesia needed during surgery, and also helps to relieve pain after the surgery.
We use a type of anesthesia that is administered through an IV for this outpatient procedure. It is administered by an elite group of carefully selected, highly qualified, board-certified anesthesiologists and is designed to provide a smooth and gentle anesthetic experience, as well as prevent postoperative pain. This type of anesthesia allows Dr. Lawton to work on the areas being treated without causing pain.
Different sizes (3.7 mm, 4 mm, 4.6 mm, and 5 mm in diameter) of liposuction cannulae, which are medical instruments used during liposuction, are used depending on the amount of fat, the condition of the skin, the area being treated, the character of the fat, and the amount of fibrous tissue. The incisions are small and hidden in areas that are not easily noticeable.
What Is The Recovery Like After Liposuction?
After your surgery, it is important to get plenty of rest. At home, you will have medications to help with any pain you may feel. We also prescribe antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. To reduce swelling and bruising, and speed up your recovery, we will provide you with a special compression garment, surgical vitamins, arnica, and bromelain.
We will see you the day after your surgery at our office. By the fourth or fifth day, the discomfort should be significantly reduced. You will need to come back in one week to have your sutures removed. By then, you should be feeling well enough to resume most of your normal activities, including work. However, it will take about six weeks for your wounds to heal to 50% of their full strength. Only after this time period, you can return to vigorous activities.
We will schedule follow-up appointments with you at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and then every year after that. If needed, will see you more frequently, but these follow-up visits will always be free of charge.
What Results Should I Expect After Liposuction Procedure?
The success of liposuction is measured by changes in contour. You may also lose some weight and get into smaller size clothing, although this varies based on your anatomy. Fat removal is permanent, but it’s important to maintain healthy habits like eating well and exercising regularly to keep your new shape. Even if you gain weight after liposuction, the localized fat deposits that existed prior to surgery should not grow out of proportion to the surrounding areas.
Liposuction Vs. Tummy Tuck
Liposuction is for the patient who does not have issues with excess skin or loose muscles, but simply wants packets of fat removed in the abdomen, thighs, or hips.
In contrast, Tummy Tucks are designed to remove excess skin and tighten loose abdominal muscles in the midsection.
Choosing between a tummy tuck and liposuction ultimately depends on your body type and the results you are seeking. We may even recommend a combination of the two in order to get the look you truly want. If you need any more information about either of these procedures or would like help choosing which one is right for you, call us today at Remington Oaks Medical Building Phone Number 210-496-2639 and we can help you with any questions and concerns you have.

His bedside manner is a little odd but he is very good at what he does. The first time I saw him he told me he could not fix the problem I was having. Although it wasn't what I wanted to hear, I appreciated his honesty. After an unexpected pregnancy, I went to him for another issue. He has been incredibly professional...my surgery was complicated but he was able to fix my problem and I am incredibly happy.

Dr. Lawton has been my go to plastic surgeon for a while now, I've done a couple of procedures with him and my latest one was a Lipo, Yes, I'm not afraid to say it. I first did my nose, and a little after that I did breast augmentation, all have been great, he is a very good professional doctor and his staff is also really nice. If I'm ever in need of a tummy tuck, after kids and everything, I for sure will go to him.

I just wanted to put out there that I have been a patient of Dr. Lawtons for over 10 years now and refer people to him all the time. I started with breast augmentation and went back about 6 years later for a tummy tuck, which, he said I would be back for because I chickened out getting them at the same time because of the scar it leaves. ( I was still pretty young and not 100% sure i wasnt going to have another child) Sure enough, I was back at his door getting one! He said lipo would not work for me as it would not be the result that he or I wanted. I read a previous review and hope that people reading these reviews remember that not everyone is a perfect fit for every doctor. I have ran into plenty of doctors that I dont care for, but that doesnt mean they dont know what they are doing! I have referred probably 20 patients to Lawton and everyone one of them thank me and love the results. They have in turn referred patients to him as well! I've always liked Lawton's 'vision' of the body and after seeing the alterations he does on my friends, can only say great things about his surgical and 'engineering' skills he has to get his patients the end result they are trying to accomplish. In a previous review a person that saw him complained because he wanted to do lipo instead of a tummy tuck that she wanted. If a doctor told me that he would do lipo instead of a tummy tuck, I would be more comfortable with him because he wasnt trying to make more money off of me by doing the tuck! But that's just it, Lawton does what it takes to get the end results that you are trying to acheive, even if he doesnt make as much money off of you. Each doctor knows what he is capable of accomplishing through their training and experience. Check his out! They are pretty impressive! As a patient, your personalities may not mesh or you may not have a laughing great time in the examining room, but I think what matters is the end results which he gets for his clients. After 10 years I still strongly recommend my friends to Lawton for cosmetic procedures and will continue to do so. I'm sorry that someone had a bad initial visit with him but it's great that she found a doctor that she meshed with and is happy with the end result. Afterall, that is what matters!. And for her, remember, tummy tuck pain is like birthing pain, you quickly forget it! 🙂
